Vision and Mission

Rooted in over 220 years of history in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, we at Hiland Presbyterian Church look to the Triune God as the wind in our sails, our fortress in times of adversity, and the driving force of our lives. We joyfully and reverently praise God and learn from God’s living Word.

We affirm that God creates the diverse peoples of the earth to be one universal family, and loves and accepts each person through God’s unlimited grace. Inspired by Jesus’ message in Matthew 25, we discover our Savior in those who are hungry, thirsty, strangers, naked, sick, and in prison, recognizing that we all, in our own unique ways, are each of these things.

At Hiland, as we lean on one another and support each other, we empower each person in our church family to use their gifts and passions to play an active role in serving our community.

Blessing Box

As many of you know, the Deacons have been partnering with Thomas Cloonan of Troop #181 as he works to rebuild the Blessing Box for his Eagle Scout Project. What began as an overgrown and weathered area — especially after our previous Blessing Box was sadly blown away during a storm — is already being transformed into a clean, welcoming space that will continue supporting neighbors in our community.

The progress so far has been incredible to watch! Thomas and his team have worked hard to clear the area, refresh the landscaping, and begin building a strong new foundation for the Blessing Box. The fresh mulch, restored pathway, and newly constructed platform already make such a difference and give a glimpse of the beautiful finished project to come.

This project is a wonderful example of service, community partnership, and caring for our neighbors. We are grateful for Thomas’s hard work and proud to support him as he completes this meaningful Eagle Scout Project.

Take a look at the before-and-after photos below to see the amazing transformation so far!
