Special Offerings
Christmas Joy - Fifty percent of the receipts to the Christmas Joy Offering are distributed to the Board of Pensions for assistance programs that provide support to retired and active church workers and their spouses and families. The other fifty percent supports Presbyterian-related racial ethnic education through the General Assembly Mission Council.
Lazurus Fund - This offering is taken to provide financial assistance to families and individuals of Allegheny County for rent, mortgage payments, security deposits and utilities, enabling them to overcome their economic difficulties through the grace and love of Jesus Christ as demonstrated through the giving of individuals and congregations of the Pittsburgh Presbytery.
One Great Hour of Sharing - Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with people experiencing need. Our gifts support ministries of disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development that help people find safe refuge, start new lives and work together to strengthen their families and communities.
Peacemaking - As Christians we are called to point to and become part of God’s peacemaking in the world. We are called to be agents of reconciliation for individuals, in families and communities, in the international arena, and with the whole creation, building a culture of peace. Twenty-five percent of the peacemaking offering stays with the congregation for its own peacemaking work. Another twenty-five percent is used for presbytery and synod peacemaking efforts and fifty percent supports the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program of the General Assembly Mission Council.
